Cosmo and Wanda

Cosmo and Wanda are main characters on the Nickelodeon animated television series The Fairly OddParents. They were created by Butch Hartman. They are the married fairy godparents of Timmy Turner, the central character on the show. They disguise themselves in public, and they are distinguished from each other by their coloring: light pink for Wanda, and light green for Cosmo. To protect themselves from detection by Timmy's parents, which would result in their re-assignment to another child, Cosmo and Wanda disguise themselves as goldfish and live in a bowl on Timmy's nightstand. Describing themselves (with tongues in cheek) in one episode as being "two halves of a whole idiot", their ability to help Timmy is limited by Da Rules, the all-encompassing set of rules and regulations on fairy behavior. They are a married couple who are both thousands of years old. Wanda has a sister named Blonda who is a major soap opera star in Fairy World. Cosmo has an overprotective mother named Mama Cosma. Mama Cosma is a mother hen who loves Cosmo too much and wants Cosmo to marry two robots that she made for him. Alas, Cosmo longs for his soon-to-be wife, Wanda and elopes with her by telling his mother that he is going out for some milk. By the episode "Apartnership!", Cosmo & Wanda have been married for 9,895 years. In that episode, it is Cosmo and Wanda's 9,895th Anniversary. Cosmo thinks that this anniversary is the styrofoam anniversary, where as Wonda states "Every fairy knows that it's the false anger anniversary!". Cosmo doesn't realize this. After Wanda acts like she was angry, Cosmo retreats to Mama Cosma's house after all those years. By then, Mama Cosma has made two robots that were made for marrying Cosmo. Mama Cosma hates Wanda for stealing Cosmo away from her, so she puts Cosmo, Wanda, and the two robots on a game show hosted by Cupid. Cosmo picks Wanda, and they both forgive each other. Cosmo explains to Mama Cosma that Wanda is the perfect woman for him, and she puts up with a lot just to be with him. Mama Cosma still hates Wanda for the same reason, but finds love with Cupid after he was struck by his own arrow. Wanda's father, Big Daddy, is head of the Fairy World mafia. He currently holds a monopoly on the garbage disposal business. In an epsiode where Big Daddy is kidnapped, Wanda has to take over the family business. (The kidnapper is later found out to be Mama Cosma.) Big Daddy hates Cosmo, which parallels Mama Cosma's hate Wanda. Despite their hate for their children's spouses, both are in love with each other. (Whether this relationship will continue remains to be seen. Throughout history, the actions of the two fairies had caused various historical events: Cosmo was held responsible for the sinking of Atlantis, and Wanda the extinction of dinosaurs. They have also been fairy godparents to many other notable figures before Timmy, and ironically, one such child was Denzel Crocker, before one of Timmy's accidents revealed that Crocker had fairy godparents. Timmy loses Cosmo and Wanda by the time he turns 18, revealed in the movie length episode "Channel Chasers". Not much is known on Cosmo & Wanda's past, but here's what is known: in a much earlier time, Wanda, who is rumored to have killed the dinosaurs, had been dating the sexy fairy Juandissimo Magnifico. It is unknown what happened between them, but Juandissimo obviously did something that upset Wanda so much she broke up with him. Juandissimo's been pining for her ever since. Cosmo was sent to the Fairy Academy, and, during his training, he was responsible for sinking the city of Atlantis (nine times), causing the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius (which destroyed the neighboring city of Pompeii), and calling the city of Xanadu "Pittsburgh". Cosmo apparently fell in love with Wanda for her intelligence, and Wanda loved him because he was funny. But although Cosmo got the guts to propose (with a chewed pen cap), his mother, Mama Cosma, really disliked Wanda (she didn't like the idea of Cosmo settling down). In order to elope with Wanda, Cosmo ran away from home, telling his mother that he was going out to buy milk. By the episode "Apartnership!", Cosmo & Wanda have been married for 9,895 years (but as of now never had any children). A lot of things may have happened to them during that period, but most of them are never known. What we do know is that they served as fairy godparents for Denzel Crocker in the early 1970s. Unfortunately, an incident involving their selves from thirty years later caused poor Denzel's secret to be revealed, and they were taken away from him. Their next assignment was evidently young Bill Gates. Their time to care for Timmy Turner came about a year after Vicky the Babysitter started babysitting (and terrorizing) him. They showed up via Timmy's Magic 9 Ball that he had just smashed. At first, Timmy wasn't so positive about meeting Cosmo & Wanda, but after his first day with them, Timmy loved them like they were his best friends. Being Timmy's fairy godparents, Cosmo & Wanda usually transform into various animals and objects to avoid being seen by other people. Their most common disguise is as Timmy's pet goldfish. Historical Facts: Cosmo was originally envisioned as a fat, bald, lazy slob, and the formerly frumpy Wanda's name was originally going to be Venus. In the "Oh Yeah!" shorts, Cosmo had a more "game show sort of thing" voice that sounds rather smart compared to the moronic, silly tone he has today. His original voice was used for a brief moment when portraying his dad. Cosmo's anti-fairy counterpart, who is an intelligent yet evil gentleman, once tried to make Timmy too happy to have fairy godparents. Little Known Secrets: All of Cosmo's unfortunate pets in the episode "Sleep Over and Over" seem to be named after "Jimmy Neutron" characters: Carl [Wheezer] the Ant; Cindy [Vortex] the Bee; and Jimmy [Neutron] the Cat. Wanda has a chocolate obsession, and she won't travel without makeup. Neither will Cosmo.
